All Saints’, Marcham - Church Weekend 2022

We are planning to have a church weekend away together. We have been unable to for the last couple of years because of the pandemic, but want to offer this opportunity again. It is great to be together as a church and get to know one another better - from the youngest to the oldest. We would love to see as many people as possible from the whole congregation there!

This year the dates will be the 27-30th May (3 nights!), starting on the Friday and finishing mid-morning on Monday 30th. This runs into the start of the half term week for many families. The theme for the weekend is “We are the body of Christ” (1 Cor 12:27) and our guest speaker is Gavin Collins, Bishop of Dorchester.

The weekend will be held at The Poplars – a family-run centre specifically for Christian retreats and conferences. https://thepoplars.co/ We will have exclusive use of the centre during our time there. On site accommodation consists largely of dormitory-style rooms with a few smaller ones for couples. There is also the option to camp, bring your own caravan or stay off-site in a local B&B and join us as a day visitor. The centre is self-catering, so we will be organising a catering team and providing our own food.

There are a number of meeting rooms and lounges that we can use, a kitchen and dining area and a BBQ. Other facilities on site include an open-air pool with slide, various sports grounds and games rooms, a camp fire and lots of space!

A full children’s and youth programme will be part of the weekend. We realise that a number of our young people will be mid-exams at this point and will plan to provide a quiet study space for them during the weekend.

Day visitors
We are aware that for some, staying away overnight is not ideal so it is possible to come for the day on the Saturday or the Sunday. We can usually find transportation for those who do not drive but be aware that it is a 1hr45 min drive each way.

We want the weekend to be as accessible as possible to all members of the congregation. If you have queries about finances, access or accommodation please get in contact with Tamsin to discuss further. There may well be a way to help you, but we cannot help if we do not know! Your information will be treated confidentially. If you wish to pay by instalments, then a monthly amount from January can be agreed.

Booking forms are now available - see below. Since the numbers of rooms available are limited, please consider whether you would be able to camp if needed. Caravans are also allowed though as with camping, there is no electrical hook-up. If demand is high, we may be able to offer a small discount to those camping.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with Tamsin in the church office.
